Six practice areas

A narrow practice, described plainly.

We do six things, and we say no to the rest. Each service below is a real engagement type we have delivered dozens of times since 2015 — with a typical scope, a typical timeline, and a typical fee range. If your question doesn't fit, tell us on the intake call and we will point you somewhere it does.

Service 01

Licensing & Renewals

We build and maintain a rolling twelve-month licensing calendar for your business: state and municipal permits, DOT & FMCSA touchpoints, seller's permits, ABC filings, professional registrations, and the quiet renewals that get forgotten until the day they lapse.

Typical deliverable: a written renewals calendar, filing checklist, and a designated point of contact for every issuing agency.

Timeline: 3–5 weeks. Fee: fixed, $3,800–$9,500 depending on entity count.

Service 02

Operational Advisory

An external, senior set of eyes on how the business actually runs day to day. We review vendor contracts, insurance coverage, employee handbooks, incident logs, and the handful of documents that carry real weight if a dispute or claim arrives.

Typical deliverable: a memo of 6–14 pages with prioritized recommendations and a working session with your leadership team.

Timeline: 4–8 weeks. Fee: fixed or capped, $6,500–$18,000.

Service 03

Regulatory Response

When a letter arrives from a state agency, a licensing board, or a federal regulator, we help you respond thoughtfully rather than reflexively. Coordination with your existing legal counsel is standard; we do not replace it.

Typical deliverable: a written response strategy, drafted correspondence, and a preparation session ahead of any hearing or interview.

Timeline: as required. Fee: capped hourly with weekly written updates.

Service 04

Records & Retention

A document retention schedule calibrated to California statute, industry practice, and your insurance carrier's expectations. Boring work. It is also the cheapest defense you will ever buy.

Typical deliverable: a retention schedule, a destruction protocol, and training materials for the person who will actually enforce it.

Timeline: 2–4 weeks. Fee: fixed, $2,400–$5,800.

Service 05

Transactional Diligence

Buy-side and sell-side diligence for small business transactions under $10 million in enterprise value. Practical, checklist-driven work; we coordinate with your attorney and CPA rather than duplicating their scope.

Typical deliverable: a diligence report of 15–30 pages with a red-flag summary suitable for lender and board review.

Timeline: 5–9 weeks. Fee: fixed, from $12,000.

Service 06

Team Training

Half-day, on-site sessions for operating managers on documentation, incident response, and the small handful of daily habits that keep a business defensible. Delivered at your location, in plain language, without slides.

Typical deliverable: a facilitated 4-hour session and a written summary participants can keep at their desks.

Timeline: single day. Fee: fixed, $2,800 plus travel within California.

Not on the list?

Things we deliberately do not do.

An honest list is more useful than a long one. If your question is on the right-hand side below, we can usually name someone who is a better fit than we are.

What we do

  • Compliance advisory for California operators
  • Regulatory correspondence & preparation
  • Owner-operated business advisory
  • Small-transaction diligence under $10M
  • Records & retention program design
  • On-site training for operating managers

What we don't do

  • Legal representation — we are not a law firm
  • Tax preparation or CPA work
  • Investment, securities, or financial advice
  • Immigration matters
  • Personal legal disputes
  • Consumer or family law of any kind
